Incorporated in June 1967, Air Mauritius began operations with a modest fleet of one Piper-Navajo servicing its sister island of Reunion. However, things have certainly changed for this dynamic airline.
Now, over 40 years later, Air Mauritius has drawn new routes over many oceans to link continents. Today, the national carrier of Mauritius flies direct to several European, Asian, African and Regional destinations – totalling more than 25 wonderful cities including:
With a young fleet, Air Mauritius, boasts mainly Airbus aircraft – A340 - 300’s, A319-100’s, and two new A340-300E aircraft. For the island destinations – Rodrigues and Reunion – ATR72-500 aircraft are operated.
Beyond offering an excellent product on all its routes, the company is already renowned for its high level of in-flight service and excellent passenger ground attention winning Air Mauritius several international awards.
As the national carrier, the airline acts as an ambassador for the country and in so doing reveals and pays tribute to the island and its people. The new cabin configuration is in line with this approach and the rationale is to make the passenger’s in-flight experience a unique one. From the moment they step on board, passengers are enveloped in the warmth and hospitality of beautiful Mauritius.
“Your Island in the Sky” is a concept developed to emphasise the exceptional natural scenery of the island; along with its rich and vibrant marine resources. The new cabin design reflects this notion with the omnipresence of the lagoon and the ocean,
the green of the palm trees and the sugar cane fields, the colourful and rich ocean, the amazingly striking flowers, and the unique colours of the Seven Coloured Earths.
Air Mauritius operates a fleet of modern A340 Airbuses in a 2 class configuration, offering a quality business class cabin with 34 lie-flat seats and a world standard economy cabin of 264 modern seats in line with its focus on the leisure traveller.
At present, Air Mauritius offers their Australian customers a weekly service combining Perth and Melbourne, departing Mauritius each Monday and returning from Melbourne on Tuesday evenings, and from Perth in the early hours of Wednesday morning, arriving in time to either soak up a full day of the islands beautiful offerings, or to connect with many onward flights across its network.
Air Mauritius is a member of BSP Australia offering travel agents the opportunity to transact directly and receive 9% commission on published fares, or alternatively, bookings can be made via Air Mauritius offices on toll free 1300 332 077.
