Blackberry Email Ban in the Middle East raises questions about traveller safety
A respected travel industry leader and client of travel experience solution provider, conTgo, David Hughes, General Manager of corporate travel manager QBT, warns that organisations should review their corporate security processes if they have travellers going to, or already located within the Middle East or other countries who are considering banning or restricting the use of Blackberry smart-phones.
David Hughes said: “In an event such as a natural disaster or political unrest it is crucial that companies have a means of locating and communicating with their employees. We saw a perfect example of this just recently with the political unrest in Thailand and the Volcanic Ash crisis.”
QBT Connect enables companies to track and communicate with their travellers via SMS messaging, available anywhere, anytime on any mobile device. That means QBT customers will continue to enjoy all the security and traveller experience features of QBT Connect irrespective of whether a particular country decides to ban or censor Blackberry Email.
“This is a great example of why QBT has partnered with conTgo to deliver QBT Connect to our corporate customers to ensure their safety and so we can stay in contact with them whenever needed,” concluded David Hughes.
In summary:
- QBT’s investment in creating the QBT Connect mobility services platform enables it to communicate via SMS which is proven to be most reliable. This lowers the risk and offers better services for QBT Connect customers when travelling.
- QBT can now quickly react to these sorts of developments
QBT’s customers using QBT Connect will be advised via SMS of any restriction to their use of their Blackberry services when they are travelling through the countries which are already or are considering limiting the functionality of Blackberry devices. |
