Lonely Planet’s The Travel Book, 2nd edition
Lonely Planet’s international best seller, The Travel Book, is back in an all-new edition.

The first edition of this full-colour, photographic journey through every country in the world was published in 2004 and sold more than half-a-million copies globally. The second edition, which is released this October, boasts 100% new content, including 817 stunning images and completely updated text.

The Travel Book devotes double-page spreads to 218 countries, offering a glimpse of life in each destination from a traveller’s perspective and evoking the spirit of the place by describing what you might see and feel, eat and drink, and which books, music or films will help prepare you for the experience. The book also details events, objects and people that are central to each country’s identity, along with curious, little-known facts.

In addition, The Travel Book contains a further 11 places of interest chosen by Lonely Planet Co-founder Tony Wheeler. These bonus destinations are small dependencies that still warrant great attraction, such as Montserrat and Gibraltar.

Lonely Planet’s Asia-Pacific Travel Editor Shawn Low said, “The Travel Book showcases the diverse cultures and scenery of every country on earth, with some of the finest travel photography you’ll see. It‘s for people who are interested in experiencing the world, for those seeking inspiration on where to go next, or simply any armchair traveller who enjoys beautiful images.”
