Tick-tock, it's time for Tok Tok

Tuesday, 24 August 2010

Vanuatu's premier trade event, the 9th annual Tok Tok, will introduce new aspects to its lineup when it commences tomorrow for the first time in Espiritu Santo Island before moving to Efate for the extended four day show.

Bringing together agents, wholesalers and tourism operators to showcase Vanuatu's tourism industry which represents the major revenue earner for the country of over 210,000 people, Australian and New Zealand represents its largest group of attendees and its most popular tourism market.

Espiritu Santo Island is a quick 30 minute flight from Port Vila, and organizers claim the move will allow a wider showcase of Vanuatu's 83 islands to conference attendees.

Industry partners will gather at The Beachfront Resort for the initial two days to meet with local operators and explore the island's world class diving fronts as well as its fresh water blue holes.  The final two days will be hosted on Efate Island for further appointments and tours. Further opportunities to explore neighboring islands will be offered to showcase Vanuatu's new accommodation and touring options.

The Vanuatu Tourism Office explained the extended itinerary and island hopping as a step toward increasing promotion of outer areas and its accessibility, and also allowing more local operators to take part in showcasing their products first hand.

Direct international flights from Brisbane and connecting flights from Sydney to Espiritu Santo with Air Vanuatu and its new 68 seat ATR72 for domestic connections are also being featured as an improved product offering from the regional airline.
