Union grinch may steal Christmas at BA
Union leaders have revealed that a new strike ballot at British Airways is “always an option”, raising concerns over the possibility of Christmas strikes.
In an email to staff, Unite joint-leader Tony Woodley said: "The possibility of balloting you once more ... remains an option very much on the table."
Mr Woodley also confirmed that a fresh peace offer was turned down by BA last week.
Sources said the strike call would likely be announced next week if neither side extends an olive branch to the other during a meeting on Monday.
One insider revealed to the Sun: "The whole thing is going to start again. The plan would be to affect pre-Christmas bookings."
For over 18 months, BA and Unite have been battling it out over working conditions for cabin crew.
Unite wants BA to reinstate free travel for cabin crew members that went on strike in March.
Last year, Unite planned to embark on a “12 days of Christmas” strike to force BA into submission, however the industry action was outlawed by a high court judge.
BA has promised to operate 100 per cent of services in the event of any new wave of industrial action.
