Two great and very different Fiji island resorts. Bula to everyone back home, Leroy and Kim on location in gorgeous Fiji from eTravel Blackboard. After a nice easy 50 minute boat trip from Denarau on Malolo Cat we arrive at Plantation Island to a warm welcome. Every guest disembarking is given an orientation on the resort which covered everything from activities to meal plans with a focus on families. Plantation Island Resort is geared up for families and is perfectly suited to their budget and requirements. Kids clubs, 3 pools, daily activities to keep everyone from big kids to small toddlers occupied throughout their stay.
Api, Plantation Island’s friendly sales manager showed Leroy and I around the resorts huge grounds and numerous room types. There is something for everyone here, with Plantation Island Resort recently finishing building a huge conference facility which is already drawing lots of attention and will no doubt increase the Island’s popularity. Leroy and I spent a night in the Deluxe Garden View Terrace Room which was very spacious and would easily accommodate a family of four. While accommodation is rather basic and the bathrooms a bit dated, the property is geared up for families, certainly has a good atmosphere and is very busy. Our room was comfortable and even had air conditioning which I wasn’t expecting. Families are very well looked after at this resort and if Mums and Dad’s need a night off they can head over to Lomani Resort [Plantation’s sister property] for a romantic meal while the kids are looked after by caring Fijian babysitters. Lomani is an adults only resort so children under 16 are not permitted to stay here or eat at the restaurant. It’s a great little getaway for those parents looking for some quiet time during their island holiday. Leroy and I found the meals at Plantation Island Resort to be of a high standard. Our host Api treated us to a relaxed pre-dinner drink and meal by the water’s edge. It was a really lovely night with music and entertainment.
Our second night on Plantation Island was spent at Lomani Resort and Lucy was kind enough to invite us to stay and experience one of Lomani’s newly completed beachfront bures with stunning ocean views and an outside shower. Absolute luxury with traditional Fijian style incorporated into the room design. If your clients are looking for a romantic quiet getaway then Lomani is definitely the place. Lomani is the Fijian word for love.
With only 17 rooms at this resort couples always feel like they have the place to themselves. Upon arrival guests are greeted by fresh coconut drink and welcomed by Lomani staff. One of the main features of Lomani is the Flame Tree restaurant with tables set on a deck overlooking the pool, garden and ocean. At night the restaurant is lit up with fairy lights and, candles and tiki torches and the evening entertainment creates a lovely romantic atmosphere. Leroy and I enjoyed a seafood dinner at the restaurant and found the menu very appealing. All in all a relaxing stay and really lovely friendly staff.
