iStay on Cashel Fully Operational
The earthquake that struck 35 kilometres from Christchurch on Saturday morning measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale has caused severe damage to a high percentage of the city’s major tourism infrastructure.
In true Kiwi spirit, local businesses that have escaped devastation have banded together to ensure Christchurch is able to offer adequate accommodation for arriving travelers and those left without ongoing safe accommodation.
Oaks Hotels & Resorts IStay Cashel is just a short walk to the CBD and has been declared safe by structural engineers who have given the property a green sticker to continue full operations. And while some properties in the CBD area are operating at limited service, IStay Cashel has all amenities functional maintaining as little disruption for guests as possible under what have been incredibly difficult circumstances.
Vehicle access is limited throughout Christchurch prompting Oaks Istay Cashel to set up a luggage drop off zone 5-10 minutes by foot for guests. While this precaution is in place to maintain guest safety, it is expected vehicles will be able to re-enter city streets once main roads have been checked and declared safe by council officers.
At the present point in time the city centre remains closed with a restricted access area bounded by Colombo, Worcester, Madras and St Asaph Streets.
