Where The Ultimate Luxury Is Peace Of Mind

Located less than an hour from Coolangatta Airport, Mount Warning Bed And Breakfast Retreat is one of those little gems that gain in value with each visit. Located on the road to Mount Warning (also known by its original name name, Wollumbin, which means "cloud catcher") in northern New South Wales, Mount Warning Bed And Breakfast Retreat is only minutes by car from Uki and serves as a great base for exploring some of Australia's most beautiful landscapes. Though not a luxury property, the friendly welcome and lack of pretension serve to refresh jaded urbanites who exist in a world far removed from the endless greenery of this part of the country. The coastal rainforest still exists in a pristine state here; even more powerful than the visual stimulation of nature are the strongly aromatic plants whose heady fragrances linger heavily in the air. In addition to eucalyptus and other native trees, there are flowers and fruit trees yielding an endless bounty in the favourable climate. As real estate prices in the area attest, a piece of paradise is in high demand.

Rock towers on the riverbanks have become a local tradition |

The northern region of New South Wales has attracted a considerable number of cosmopolitan residents who gave up the rat race for good and relocated to the area in search of a less complicated existence. Mount Warning Bed And Breakfast Retreat is owned by an astrophysicist and his German partner; Paul and Renate spent years in the US in association with several of that country's best universities. They traded Harvard for Uki, a small village tucked in the folds of the green-velvet blanket of vegetation covering this corner of Australia's most populous state. Standing among the primeval beauty, it is hard to believe Sydney is only 75 minutes' flying time away.
The nearest Coles is found in Murwillumbah, which is also home to the impressive Tweed River Art Gallery. Relocated in 2004 from its quaint home on the banks of the Tweed River, the art gallery is found in what may seem at first to be an incongruous location in rolling farmland. One view from the balcony of the sleek building will reveal an impressive vista now serving as a backdrop for one of regional Australia's leading art institutions. The Tweed River Art gallery also houses the Marks Family Art Research Library as well as the popular Frances Mills Education Centre where workshops are offered for both children and adults.
