In Sydney to promote the world’s highest and Asia’s only via ferrata, Mountain Torq, Malaysian representatives wowed agents with images and testimonials from the impressive climb.
Self-confessed couch potato, Mountain Torq reservation and customer service leader Dominic Fong was quick to assure agents that the via ferrata (a continuous protected mountain path) opens up routes previously closed to only the serious rock climber.
“If you can walk up stairs, you can do this,” Mr Fong said.
According to Mr Fong, Mountain Torq’s via ferrata enables climbers and non-climbers to experience the thrill of mountain climbing in complete safety, while taking in the spectacular mountain surroundings and summit views.
A UNESCO world heritage site, Sabah’s Mount Kinabalu’s 4,095 metres affords stunning “exclusive” views both from the mountain’s peak and during the climb, Mr Fong said.
Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest via ferrata in the world, Mountain Torq has one of the highest safety records amongst all mountaineering sites, ensuring that almost “no skills are required”, he said.
“Offering overnight and longer packages, Mountain Torq’s dormitory style accommodation at the Pendant Hut is popular with families and groups as well as FITs,” Mr Fong told e-Travel Blackboard.
Mountain Torq presented as part of Tourism Malaysia’s Update and Networking Night held in Sydney last night.
