Sunshine Coast tourism operators are redirecting their focus to the New Zealand market, in a bid to restore the region’s international appeal following recent flooding. After experiencing mass last minute accommodation cancellations, Sunshine Coast Destination chief executive Michael Denton said the upcoming Flight Centre consumer show in New Zealand is taking priority, The Noosa Journal reported. “We’re also going to target Wotif as well as Travel Talk, which is another online site catering for the New Zealand market,” he said. The team at Sunshine Coast Destination has also turned to online media, posting a video on Youtube assuring the region is still in running and the weather is perfect for summer holidaymakers. “If you’re a Twitterer then please go online and get the message out to all your friends that the Coast has beautiful weather and is open for business,” he said. |
