Moreton Bay and Islands, one of Australia’s premier coastal destinations, is the focus of a campaign run by Brisbane Marketing, supporting the local tourism industry and attracting visitors to the region. The campaign will run from February through to May and incorporate 28 tourism operators, representing tours, accommodation, activities and attractions spanning the entire Moreton Bay and Islands region from the islands to coastal villages and the hinterland. Brisbane Marketing Chief Executive Officer John Aitken said the range of operators involved in the campaign highlighted the breadth of activities, products and areas throughout the region. “This campaign is timely, whilst only one month since the floods it is important we send out a very clear message – the islands, waterways and foreshore are open and ready for families and visitors to enjoy a natural adventure based holiday in Moreton Bay and Islands,” Mr Aitken said. “The region is a diverse paradise that stretches 125 kilometres from Bribie Island in the North, to the Southern Bay Islands and encompasses some of Queensland’s finest beaches, pristine waters, and rugged hinterland. “This year, we’re excited to have new partners on board that showcase the range of activities available right at our front door – from eco-tours to adrenaline sports, aquatic adventures and gourmet indulgences.” The campaign is a combined initiative with the Moreton Bay Mayors’ Task Force – representing Brisbane City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Redland City Council – to support the local tourism industry as it gets back to business and will build on success made in previous years to raise awareness of the region and ultimately drive visitation. “This campaign is part of a long-term strategy for Brisbane Marketing and the Moreton Bay Task Force to promote Moreton Bay and Islands as a premier day trip and short break destination,” Mr Aitken said. “Last year’s campaign heralded the launch of a new brand and generated a 35% increase in bookings for the region through the Queen Street Mall Visitor Information and Booking Centre and online booking service. “This year our objective is to draw attention to this coastal playground and emphasise its proximity to Brisbane while using the Moreton Bay and Islands brand to unify the diverse region that it encompasses.” A key component of the campaign is the Moreton Bay and Islands destination web site, which will provide links to exclusive offers on tours, accommodation and activities as well as information on things to see and do throughout the region. |
