Travelport sponsors Travel Counsellors Annual Conference

Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, shared an overview of marketplace trends and the latest in Travelport innovation at the Australian National Conference for Travel Counsellors held at the Gold Coast on the weekend. Galileo is the sole GDS for Australian based Travel Counsellors, and this is the third consecutive year that Travelport has been premium sponsor of their annual conference.

Addressing around 100 Travel Counsellors at the Palazzo Versace Hotel, Travelport’s Country Manager Sean Cummins said that the signs were positive for the travel industry and that by 2014 the APAC region will have a larger travel market than North America.

“Travel is back was the key message I shared at the conference,” said Sean Cummins. “We’ve seen the industry rebound from its slump in air segments in 2008 and 2009. The past year has been one of growth, including Travel Counsellors, where we have seen a 65 percent increase in overall performance in 2009/2010.”

Travelport outlined its future direction in product innovation - including Travelport Mobile, ePricing - and showcased innovative technologies available to the home-based travel agents including Galileo Low Cost Air – an all in one air shopping and booking tool - and ASK Travelport, a free online help desk which continues to expand with new self help tools, FAQs and Tips around using Travelport products.
