JAL Group is redirecting existing resources to support the early restoration of the Tohoku region in Japan that was most affected by the earthquake. JAL has to date, planned to operate 435 extra flights to airports in that region up till March 26, 2011. To increase the transport capacity of goods and people, JAL will also utilize larger aircraft which will add approximately 16,000 more seats on these routes during this period. To accommodate the aforementioned supplementary flights and fleet change, there will be a temporary decrease in the number of scheduled flights between Tokyo (Haneda) and Sapporo, as well as Fukuoka. Customers who are booked on flights which will be suspended as a result of the adjustments are requested to travel on flights still available at other time slots. The capacity of a MD90 and Boeing 767 are 150 and approx 250 seats respectively.
