The waves of the Tsunami near Japan earlier this month will reach the shores of car rental in Europe in spring and summer this year. Several car manufacturers depend on technology and parts from Japan which for obvious reasons is experiencing a supply bottleneck in the foreseeable future. Already, talks about reduced working hours have started with the leading car manufacturers in Europe. “With such a bottleneck situation, we can assume that car rental companies might not be able to fleet up sufficiently for the summer months”, says Chris Hamill, CEO DriveAway Holidays. “And when availability gets tighter and at the same time the demand is still increasing, there is a high chance that prices for rental cars will increase, drastically” Mr Hamill continues. “I can only recommend that travellers who are planning on visiting Europe book their rental car as early as possible to still enjoy a variety of choice at affordable prices” says the industry expert, Chris Hamill. |
