Big week for SAA as premium tourism industry players head to Durban

Monday, 2 May 2011

According to South African Airways' Head of Australasia, Thevan Krishna, the airline has one of its busiest weeks of the year ahead with Southern Africa's premier tourism event INDABA starting on May 7 in Durban.

"We're flying over more than thirty of our major tour operators and media from Australia and New Zealand to take part in INDABA, ( www.indaba-southafrica.co.za ) now acknowledged as one of the world's leading tourism events," Thevan said today.

"Interest in Africa as a recreational, MICE and business tourism location is on the increase and we have seen a big rise in the level of inquiry over the past few months," he said.

"INDABA showcases Africa's leading tourism operators including hotels, resorts and game parks, transport and logistics and all other facilities that make the continent such an exciting destination. SAA is very proud to play its part as Africa's leading airline and we look forward to welcoming many thousands of people from 44 different countries onboard SAA as they make their way to Durban for INDABA this week."

"After the “business end” of INDABA, many people stay on for a bit of rest and recreation and SAA is there to take them to their destination of choice, whether in South Africa or other major African centres."
"We are working closely with the organizers of INDABA to ensure everyone attending has a great time and we’re sure as a result they will continue to promote and support the amazing diversity and experience offered by Africa," Thevan concluded.
