One of the most captivating hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, The Georgian Hotel, was built in the spring of 1933 and retains the art deco charm that its original owner so coveted.

The aggressive talents of entrepreneur Mrs. Rosamond Borde was a rarity in the 1930’s when men dominated and equality was just a glint in the eye of hopeful women.

With a varied and controversial history, The Georgian Hotel was the chosen rendezvous point for screen legends Clarke Gable and Carole Lombard and many a beverage was served to the notorious Bugsy Segal and Fatty Arbuckle.

Whilst I (luckily) didn’t encounter any ‘surprise’ guests during my stay, there have been many reports of ghostly activities over the years which, I believe, just adds to the mystery of the hotel that used to be simply known as the “Lady”.

Ideally located on Ocean Ave directly across the road from Santa Monica beach and a short stroll to the pier, The Georgian Hotel boasts service that is second to none.

From facilitating a hassle free late check out to delivering my delectable room service breakfast within 10 minutes of ordering, the friendliness of the staff was exactly what I needed after a long transit.

Named as a ‘Santa Monica Landmark’ she commands attention as one of the tallest buildings in the area.

28 supremely lavish suites and 56 standard rooms afford most guests a view of the ocean and lush hillside vistas.
I was lucky enough to be upgraded to an Ocean View Suite which literally took my breath away.

Positioned on level 5, a very helpful porter carried my bags to the suite and even turned on the lamps for me to settle me into my overnight stay in the lap of luxury.

Generously sized windows overlook the ocean and Santa Monica Pier with an inviting chaise lounge well positioned for a comfortable recline whilst enjoying the spectacular view.

A large screen LCD TV, offering a variety of both cable and local channels, in both the lounge and bedroom ensures that any spare time is filled and French doors lead into an extremely spacious king sized bedroom.

The double bathroom features a full bath and shower along with twin sinks and some of the best toiletries I ever trialled in a hotel.

Infused with essential oils, the lotions are to die for and I quickly try to think of ways to actually move into this suite!

The Georgian Hotel is not just about the service and spectacular rooms, it’s also very well known for its dining option which is popular with both hotel and non-hotel guests.

Situated in the lobby, The Veranda Restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining with a delectable blend of California cuisine, famous breakfasts and even a Tapas menu.

I enjoyed a breakfast steak burrito that ensured I was well full for the rest of the day.

The lack of parking in Santa Monica wasn’t a problem with a reliable valet service that enabled my friend to visit my Suite hassle free.

After all, I had to prove, in person to someone just how amazing this iconic hotel is!
