Inductees to the CLIA Hall of Fame were celebrated with a gala dinner at Cruise3Sixty in Fort Lauderdale last month.
Some 1400 guests enjoyed performances presented by Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises and Celebrity Cruises complete with amusing audience participation thrown in for good measure.
Rick Sasso, president & CEO MSC Cruises (USA) Inc spoke to e-Travel Blackboard shortly after receiving his award and spoke of his passion for the industry.
“It’s a wonderful honour because there’s so many people who deserve this recognition in the industry. It’s quite mature now and, after 40 years, there’s at least a dozen people in this room who could have qualified to be inducted into the Hall of Fame so I’m thrilled that the peers and travel agents have recognised my 40 year contribution,” Mr Sasso shared.
“It’s in my blood, it’s in my DNA and I’ll do another 40 if I live that long.”
The US Coast Guard and a 33 year travel marketing executive for Signature Travel Network, Michelle Morgan, were also recognised for their contribution to the cruise industry.
