Garuda Indonesia invited some of its top performing retail and wholesale partners to experience Jakarta – ‘Asia’s newest Gateway’. With increased capacity from Australia to Jakarta, the airline will continue its focus on promoting the city as one of Asia’s new stop over cities for passengers en route to South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Commenting on this famil trip, Bagus Y. Siregar, Senior General Manager Australia/SWP, said: “Over the course of the three days, we wanted some of our largest suppliers to experience the very best of what Jakarta has to offer. “The most exciting part was the visit of Garuda Indonesia’s training facilities, as we had the opportunity to partake in a real life cabin crew evacuation procedure with Garuda Indonesia’s cabin crew in-training.” Garuda Indonesia was recently recognised by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) as Asia’s leading service quality airline, scoring ahead of Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines for the overall quality of its service. The survey findings follow Garuda being named the ‘World’s Most Improved Airline’ at the Skytrax 2010 World Airline Awards in Hamburg, Germany in May 2010. In December 2009, the airline was also upgraded to a four-star rating by Skytrax, the global benchmark for airline service standards, confirming the improvement in its front-line product and service quality.
