South African Airways (SAA) has announced that due to the volcanic ash cloud originating from Chile, flights into and out of Australia into Perth have been affected.

SAA280 due to depart at 22.00 last night was unable to leave Johannesburg because of the impact of the ash cloud on South African airspace.

As a result, this evening’s flight out of Perth, SA281 due to depart at 23.50 this evening has been cancelled.

The airline is currently evaluating further flights this week but as yet no decision has yet been made.
