TravelManagers’ Results Not Affected by World Events

Wednesday, 20 July 2011

TravelManagers strong 2011 financial result will, alongside Flight Centre’s upgraded profit announcement, give the industry confidence that despite volcanoes, floods, earthquakes and tornados, people are still keen to travel.

Chief Executive Joe Araullo says the past 12 months results are extremely pleasing.

“History has shown Australians have proven to be very resilient travellers, Bali is a good example of this but during the past 12 months it has felt that we have dealt with an incredible number of natural disasters. To have such a strong financial year given what’s been going on is immensely satisfying.”

The past three years have seen TravelManagers grow significantly across all aspects of its business.

“We have recently surpassed 300 personal travel managers and our support team for our personal travel managers has grown, this investment is directly evident in our profit performance for not only the past year but the past three years.”

Whilst reluctant to discuss figures Mr Araullo says their profit is up over 100 percent on the previous 12 months, in fact since he has been chief executive TravelManagers have been profitable every year.

“It’s very much a team effort and I’m particularly proud of the calibre of personal travel manager we have. Their work ethic and commitment to their clients is outstanding and the profit result is a direct reflection of their efforts.”

Mr Araullo says the company has traded profitably every month since September 2009.

“Given how young we are as a company this is an outstanding result to be profitable every single month. It’s a great indicator that we aren’t being affected by world events dramatically, our business is very consistent. This translates to happy clients and that we aren’t just meeting their needs but exceeding them.”
