Travelzoo Australia, announced its latest figures by market researcher Telsyte, which show its ‘local deals’ business had exceeded industry benchmarks. The study looked at the performance of 51 Australian group buying websites between April and June 2011, revealing the average price for a Travelzoo local deal was AUD$156 compared to the industry average of AUD$86.20. Furthermore, the average grossed per deal was AUD$29,947, compared to the industry standard of only AUD$11,929. “We are pleased to see the rapid growth of local deals in our first quarter since launch, we see the figures as a clear validation of our position as a publisher of high quality deals,” Travelzoo general manager Australia and South East Asia Brad Gurrie said. The global internet media company report that the strong results are contributed to their strategy of publishing an average of only three deals per week compared with the industry average of 15.6. “We don’t face the pressure of sending out a deal every day, which has allowed us to focus on quality across all areas of the business,” Mr Gurrie said. Mr Gurrie said he will continue collaborating and working with leading merchants with first class products and services. “Travelzoo’s 600,000 Australian subscribers have been built up over a number of years leveraging the quality and integrity of the content that we publish, this is reflective in the latest figures,” Mr Gurrie added. Travelzoo local deals are currently active in six Australian markets including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns and Canberra. |
