In only its second year, Travelscene American Express' National Consultants Conference has garnered high recognition by member agents, selling out with a record 430 delegates resulting in a wait-list to attend the Melbourne event. On the back of winning best travel agency group at the NTIA Awards last month, Travelscene General Manager, Jacqui Timmins said this year's conference was even more important to showcase the group's strength and direction. "The NCC was a huge success last year, and no doubt this will be bigger and better," she said at the opening of the event, advising of format changes due to member feedback following last year's event in Cairns. Using last year's 'I heart travel' theme, Travelscene has now brought their own mascot to attend the event, aptly named Holi, abbreviated for holidays, through an agent competition. "The theme resonated last year, why do we love travel," Ms Timmins said. "Is it the adventure, chance to travel to exotic destinations, do we love the romance of travel, is it the new experiences? It all comes down to the people that make it exciting and fun, it's their passion and energy of likeminded people to do the best that we can" "That's what the NCC is about, so that we can learn from each other." Ms Timmins said the conference would also focus on key themes showcasing the differences between selling a product versus a service. Firsts for this year include an I heart Travel Playground, with interactive games offered by preferred partners as well as the I heart travel trivia competition. "This shows the value that you place on learning and being part of the Travelscene American Express Group. The NCC is recognising your hard work and providing you with motivation to strive for excellence," Ms Timmins said.
