Expedia partners with Barnardos

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

Online travel company, Expedia.com.au, announced it has entered into an exclusive charity partnership with Barnardos Australia.

The relationship positions Barnados as Expedia’s sole charity partner and forms an integral part of Expedia’s community engagement activities.

Nicholas Chu, Managing Director, Expedia Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Barnardos as we greatly admire its efforts with children, young people, families and community.”

“We are particularly excited by the opportunities for our employees to be actively involved through the staff volunteering program.  It will give the opportunity for Expedia employees to provide support to Barnardos in a tangible way, and see and feel the difference they are making to the lives of Australian children and young people,” he said.

Expedia’s commitment to Barnardos includes several components:

  1. Employee volunteering opportunities: school holiday outings, movie trips, pamper days and sports event hosting
  2. Professional volunteering and mentoring: assistance to the Barnardos digital team, social media support and mentoring of school children to assist with transitioning to the workforce
Workplace giving: payroll giving (direct tax deductible donations from pre-tax salaries) and branded fund-raising
