Melbourne provided a strong start to the four city Australian leg of Papua New Guinea’s Tourism road show last night, with travel agents meeting with PNG tourism operators to brush up on their destination knowledge, network and win some great PNG prizes.

The roadshow, hosted by Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority, is an annual event aimed at raising the profile of PNG and educating Australian travel agents on the range of travel opportunities and tourism infrastructure now in place in their country.

Exhibitors included Air Niugini, Airlines PNG, Walindi Plantation Resort, Loloata Island Resort, Pacific Tours, Paivu Tours, PNG Trekking Adventures/Village Huts, Tawali Resort, Kokoda Track Authority, National Planning Department, Wemso Lodge & Tours, Trans Niugini Tours, and Orion Expeditions.

Agents were encouraged to learn as much as possible from each company and were rewarded with great prizes including two Nikon Coolpix cameras, four nights accommodation Wemso Tours, day tours of Rabaul and Kokopo through Paivu Tours and return flights to PNG with Air Niugini with free domestic connections to a destination of choice within Papua New Guinea.

Airlines PNG also launched an incentive, offering two return flights to Papua New Guinea for any agent who books six Airlines Papua New Guinea sectors within the six months following the road shows.

The roadshow will move to Sydney tomorrow with over 100 agents expected at the Thursday night event and even more great prizes to give away.

The details for the upcoming events are:
