The Greek taxi drivers are striking again

Friday, 9 September 2011

Greece is going through an exceptionally tough summer: severely squeezed by its debt crisis, it is now in the grip of a high-profile taxi strike at the height of the busy tourism season.

In addition to refusing to carry passengers, the strikers dealt further damage by blocking highways and disrupting access to airports and harbours around the country in the first round of their action.

The Greek taxi drivers are against a new liberalisation and want to keep limits on the number of taxi licences that can be issued.

But don’t panic, there is good news:  if you booked a transfer with Sun Island Tours, our Greek Tour Operator will pick you up to avoid disruption from the strike! That is the benefit of booking with a specialist wholesaler like Sun Island Tours.

Feel free to contact us at anytime if you need further information.
