Cruise Recap – 16th September 2011

Friday, 16 September 2011

I was very impressed to see Royal Caribbean decide to compensate those passengers stranded in San Juan during Hurricane Irene and it convinced me, yet again, about the power of social media.

We’re heading into another bumper season of cruising with Costa Cruises sending their newly refurbished Costa neoRomantica to sail several itineraries down under late next year.

Further information has come to hand about Norwegian’s new ‘Project Breakaway’ ships, with the line selecting the names of the first two vessels in this class.

Norwegian Breakaway will launch in 2013 followed by Norwegian Getaway in 2014 and the lucky people who first came up with the names through the competition run on USA Today will be celebrating in the inaugural festivities.

I think I’ll add naming a ship to my bucket list…

Yours in cruising,

Natalie

The third in MSC Cruises’ Fantasia class, Divina was floated out of dry dock B at the STX Europe ship yard in Saint-Nazaire, France on 3 September.

Costa neoRomantica heads to Oz

Royal Caribbean compensates San Juan passengers

Passengers stranded in San Juan late last month as a result of port officials ordering the departure of Serenade of the Seas earlier than scheduled, due to Hurricane Irene, have had their compensation increased by the cruise line.

Norwegian names new Breakaway ships

Norwegian's newest ships are no longer nameless with the cruise line announcing the winning entries of their 'Cruising for Names' contest held in conjunction with USA Today.

The Voyages of Discovery fleet is set to increase with the addition of mv Voyager launching in November 2012.
