Parents from all over Australia prepare to hear some begging and pleading, as the Powerhouse Museum unveils its Wiggles Exhibition this weekend.

Opening to the public early Saturday morning, the exhibition celebrates 20 years since the Wiggles released their first album in 1991.

The showcase features up to 400 items used by the children’s group over the years including the world-famous Big Red Car, original shirts from their breakout period, an awards wall and even a projection area that simulates a live show.

Exhibition curator Peter Cox told e-Travel Blackboard that while The Wiggles Exhibition is going to immediately appeal to a younger audience, it was actually designed to entertain both parents and children.

“A while lot of content is for young children, for under the age of six… but there’s a lot for adults to enjoy because a lot of exhibition is about the 20 year history,” Mr Cox explained.

He added that the best part of the exhibition was that the adult’s section and the kid’s section was all “intertwined to seamlessly entertain two different audiences”.

Divided into two sections, the exhibition commences with Anthony and Jeff’s first musical connections in 80’s band, The Cockroaches, and discusses how the two other members eventually joined the group and formed the world’s first rock-type children’s entertainment.

The second section is where the fun begins with activities for children, ABC videotapes, the group’s first movie, interactive houses and even a section for children to make a virtual fruit salad while dancing to the song Fruit Salad.

Opening this Saturday 24 September, Mr Cox added that the exhibition will run for 12 months but expects its popularity to keep its doors open for up to two years.
