Rich range of Rugby-based points of interest for iPhone and iPad

MetroView Systems, Australia’s leading navigation software provider, in partnership with GeoSmart, today unveiled the MetroView NZ City GPS navigation application for the iPhone and iPad. Embracing one of the biggest sporting events of the year, the world first NZ City application allows users to purchase full car navigation for a single city or region in New Zealand and also includes a rich range of Rugby-based points of interest (POI) specific to Rugby World Cup 2011.

The MetroView NZ City application features the most up-to-date (September 2011) map data from New Zealand's leading geospatial solutions provider, GeoSmart and incorporates the latest road projects such as the new Auckland Upper Harbour Motorway (SH18) plus many other updates around New Zealand. Additionally, as part of this special release, the NZ City application includes plenty of POI specific to Rugby World 2011 including fan zones, REAL NZ Festival sites, stadiums, Rugby training venues and temporary accommodation sites (e.g. for campervans).

Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, the MetroView NZ City application is a complete turn-by-turn GPS navigation application with spoken instructions selling for a mere NZ$9.95. Alternatively, users can purchase the MetroView NZ GPS navigation application for NZ$49.99 (which also includes the NZ City application) – half the price of other GPS navigation brands on the market. Furthermore, the MetroView NZ City and NZ GPS navigation applications use the latest map data which other brands have not yet released.

Another thing to note is that MetroView GPS navigation software presents the only iPad application optimised for the iPad. Other applications on the market currently rely on a 2x mode which is supported by the iPad, however this simply only doubles the size of the standard iPhone application. The MetroView GPS navigation application truly takes advantage of the more abundant iPad screen and displays a larger interface with big buttons, making application interaction easier and map imagery crystal clear rather than pixelated and blurry.
