Finnair to wear Pink Ribbon in aid of Breast Cancer Research and Awareness in October

Thursday, 6 October 2011

During the month of October, Finnair is proudly wearing the symbolic Pink Ribbon to promote breast cancer research and improve the provision of advice and information for patients and their relatives. Finnair will be collecting funds for the Pink Ribbon Foundation and aims to increase the awareness of breast cancer. Finnair’s customers will also be able to participate in this work, alongside Finnair’s ground staff and flight representatives.

Research is essential when it comes to implementing better care methods and more comprehensive advice and information around breast cancer.  Last year alone 4,600 women were diagnosed with the disease with approximately 55,000 women overall experiencing breast cancer in Finland.

“The Finnair Cancer Foundation’s work is valuable and of high importance to the awareness of breast cancer. Promoting the visibility and contributing to this cause will develop necessary materials for those who are affected by breast cancer,” says Finnair’s Country Sales Manager for Australia, Geoff Stone.

The Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon campaign is being held this year for the ninth time running. The Pink Ribbon will be particularly visible on Finnair flights and at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport during October 2011. Finnair Plus customers will have the opportunity to participate in the project by donating their points or by acquiring Finnair Plus Pink products sold during October.

Finnair employees have already demonstrated on many occasions their compassionate attitude towards assisting in the fundraising for breast cancer awareness and enthusiastic volunteers have come forward to participate in the Pink Ribbon Run as well as other plans and activities.
