A Swedish hotel has taken the Penthouse and pushed it 155 metres below the ground, offering guests the opportunity to hire out one of its rooms in an underground mine. For only 3.990 SEK for two people, the Sala Silvermine has set up a unique Mine Suite, selling it to potential visitors with absolute quiet, a mine tour as well as refreshments from cheese to chocolate to enjoy well below the ground. While the temperature never rises below two degrees Celsius and reception for mobile phones is beyond impossible, the hotel has assures guests it keeps the room warmed to 18 degrees at all times, provides thick covers, extra blankets as well as an intercom radio to communicate with one staff located on above the ground. Hotel director of marketing Sofie Andersson told media the venue not only offers unique accommodation but a unique location, The Daily Mail reported. “It is easily the most extraordinary place to stay in the world in our opinion,” Ms Andresson said. “And the environment is real and not artificial like many hotels. “Since the mine shut down the underground hotel experience has become the new silver and is what makes people from far away visit Sala once again. “We connect the past with life today and have created a room that will be interesting and feel right in the future too.” |
