DMS Destination Marketing Services recently escorted six lucky incentive agents on a very special familiarisation to Botswana, South Africa and Zambia, kindly sponsored by South African Tourism, South African Airways & Sun International.
DMS’s General Manager Marissa Fernandez said, “With its incredible wealth of experiences, diversity of highlights, faultless ground operations and very impressive accommodation options Southern Africa is well suited to the high end groups market.”
With an abundance of experiences, the destination is perfect for repeat programs and the most experienced travellers.
“The success of the trip was guaranteed by the involvement of our ground operator Dragonfly Africa. Their guides, drivers and vehicles were extremely experienced and of the highest standard. The whole Dragonfly Africa team worked tirelessly and with genuine care to ensure the trip exceeded everyone’s expectations,” Fernandez said.
Of the many highlights of the trip the standout was the CSR project - a visit to the Tongabezi Trust School, Tujatane. Opening in 1996, Tujatane cares for children of underprivileged parents and has successfully grown from a class of 15 children to a school with over 180 students. It is funded totally by donations. These donations include; individual child sponsorship, teacher sponsorship, assistance with food and medical programmes and building projects. Keeping up with technology, the school now has a computer room with donated laptops and a fantastic new music room with guitars and keyboards as well as local instruments. The school provides the children with breakfast and lunch which proves a great incentive for parents. On arrival the group donated toys, books, crayons, pencils etc. and the children entertained their guests with
song and dance. This was followed by a delightful question and answer time, creating lasting memories for all who visited Tujatane.
Additional donations by the famil participants, Dragonfly Africa and DMS raised enough funds to sponsor a child, Jasper for an entire year. These funds will cover his food and schooling expenses. This was an extremely emotional and positive experience for everyone involved and will be constant reminder that small acts of kindness can have very positive results.
There are many other opportunities to get involved in this and other schools’ sponsorship programmes including; building, teaching classes for a day and even the conservation of rhino through tagging. Dragonfly Africa offer a number of these CSR projects all over Southern Africa. |
