The 39th annual ABAV trade show took place in Rio de Janeiro 19-21 October and e-Travel Blackboard was on location as a guest of Globe Travel / The Brazilian Travel Centre.

Ester Weiss, Director Globe Travel, told ETB that the annual event is hosted by the Brazilian Association of Travel Agents and “The Fair of the Americas, aka ABAV” has been running for nearly 40 years.

Billed as the largest annual travel trade fair of its kind in South America this year over 8oo exhibitors including state tourist boards, Buzios, Para, Piaui, Cerea and 60 international destinations, were represented.

Two famous Brazilian locations, Iguassu Falls and the Amazon, are nominees in the soon to be decided Seven Wonders of Nature competition and both beauties were vying for important votes at the fair.

Brazil is in tourism overdrive with preparations for the 2014 World cup and 2016 Olympics making this fair a Brazil showcase to the 23,000 worldwide tourism professionals who visited during the 3 day period.
