Awards galore for Travellers Choice members

Tuesday, 1 November 2011

Numerous awards were handed out to Travellers Choice members at the annual Shareholders Conference in Singapore last weekend, with some lucky agents bagging multiple gongs recognising their year of hard work.

Broadway Travel & Cruise WA was the key winner this year, taking home numerous awards, including the top gong, the Gold Choice Award as the group's top agency.

Gold Choice winners will travel to South Africa with Qantas from Sydney and South African Airways from Perth, looked after on their eight-day trip by The Africa Safari Company.

First time winners in this category include Jayes Travel (NSW), Jamison Travel (ACT) and Discover Travel & Cruise (QLD), who join Bay Travel & Cruise (VIC), Carine Travel Bug (WA), City Beach Travel & Cruise (QLD), Maria Slater Travel (ACT), Queanbeyan City Travel & Cruise (NSW) and Stodarts Travel & Cruise (WA)

Silver Choice winners are expected to travel to Egypt courtesy of Insight Vacations and Emirates, the destination which was supposed to be bestowed on last year's winners, however due to the political uncertainty of the country at that time was changed at the last minute.

Winners of the Bronze Choice Award category will travel to New Zealand in 2012 courtesy of Kirra Tours and Air New Zealand.

“The benefits of the Choice Awards flow through to all Travellers Choice members because the program provides an important incentive for members to maximise their support of our most valued partners,” MD, Gary Allomes said.

In a separate ceremony, Jayes Travel in Newcastle was announced as the recipient of the Brian Pateman Agency Award for Excellence due to strong growth in preferred supplier sales, sound local marketing and a willingness to help fellow members in the group.  The company operates two locations in northern NSW, and will receive $3000 worth of travel from Qantas Airways.

"On the back of a very successful 2010, the company's sales of preferred supplier product showed significant growth over the past 12 months, highlighted by their inclusion in this year's elite group of Gold Choice Award winners," Mr Allomes said.

"Both Jayes Travel outlets have also been highly proactive in their marketing initiatives, with local campaigns effectively leveraging Travellers Choice's low-cost email marketing system, TC Direct."
