Wednesday, 2 November 2011

A recent survey of behavior whilst travelling on an airplane has found that travellers generally agree on what is and what is not acceptable in-flight behavior.

The survey conducted by lonely planet collated over 5800 responses from the travelling public to find out what travellers find acceptable and unacceptable behavior whilst in flight.

The study found that the number one annoyance was other people messing with your seat and personal space.

Following close behind are people pulling themselves up by using your headrest, prodding the entertainment console on the back seat, kicking, and other space encroaching behaviors were frequently mentioned.

The survey also revealed that noisy and disobedient children were a major annoyance to passengers travelling experience as well as thoughtless behavior from fellow travellers with regards to storing away their carry-on luggage.

In response, Lonely Planet has set up ‘The Passengers Airplane Bill of Rights’ which includes the following airplane etiquette.

Passengers should have the right to remove their shoes, so long as they don’t stink, freedom from unreasonable smells, the right to reasonable light, The article of reclension which allows passengers to recline seats as they wish except of course at meal times and when instructed by crew, Freedom of no speech and the right to bear armrests.
