Hurtigruten announces release of 2012 Norway Brochure

Friday, 4 November 2011

Hurtigruten and Discover the World Marketing are pleased to announce the recent launch of the Hurtigruten 2012 Norway brochure. The brochure showcases Hurtigruten’s timeless Norwegian Coastal Voyages, along with a variety of exciting new excursions and onboard activities, bringing guests even closer to the real Norway.

In 2012, Hurtigruten invite their guests to discover the ever-changing Norwegian coastline by focussing on the beauty of its four diverse seasons – all of which can be experienced firsthand, aboard one of Hurtigruten’s 6, 7, 11 or 12 day Classic Coastal Voyages. With each changing season, Norway takes on a different tenor; shedding the shades of the previous months to be revitalised by the imprint of a new season. This brochure displays the charm of each distinct season, taking you on a journey of seasonal highlights. Spring introduces you to an Arctic awakening, where you can experience three seasons in just five days. The spring brings with it a fascinating contrast as the south begins to thaw and the winter frost lingers in the north. Explore the two extremes of the Norwegian environment as you sail along its length. During spring, the ocean is teeming with wildlife and migratory birds line the sky – this is a time when the Norwegian coast is filled with life and colour. Come summer, the Land of the Midnight Sun does indeed live up to its name. The striking scenery of Norway is bathed in sunlight, 24-hours a day. Sail the lush fjords , visit the beautiful Lofoten Islands, take a tour of the historical and architecturally striking town of Trondheim, be captivated by the indigenous Sami culture in Hammerfest, or simply unwind onboard. Autumn is a time of dramatic change. The landscape is painted over with russet, ochre and rouge, the air begins to cool, and the first sightings of snow can be seen atop the region’s mountains. During this time of year, Lofoten and Vesteralen boast some of the most impressive scenery of the coast and Northern Light sightings begin. Rustic coastal towns also adopt a certain charm throughout the autumn months - take a tour and be enamored by the quaint streets, the antique architecture and the long-held tradition of these sites.

If one for spectacular sights, winter in Norway is an experience not to be missed, as the snow and the Arctic twilight transform the landscape into an almost other-worldly vista. Highlights of this time of year include: dog-sledding trips, the Snow Hotel in Kirkenes and of course, the Northern Lights. This natural sensation is one of the defining features that give the Norwegian winter such allure – and NASA has predicted next year will display the strongest level of Northern Lights activity in 50 years. Remember, Earlybird savings of up to 10%* are available on selected Classic Voyage departures between 1 January and 31 December, 2012 if booked by 31 December, 2011.
