Executive General Manager – Mandy Scotney |
TravelManagers fourth annual conference theme for its 2011 National Conference is “Creating Value” and in addition to its three external motivational keynote speakers, Cris Popp, Robyn Pearce and Anh Do, the conference has 11 different workshops on its comprehensive agenda.
These breakout sessions are designed to be small group sessions with topics based around individual personal travel managers’ ongoing needs. Mandy Scotney, TravelManagers’ Executive General Manager says the themes for these workshops were selected from their personal travel managers’ feedback from regional meetings earlier in the year.
“These sessions are very interactive and allow a fantastic opportunity for our personal travel managers to not only learn from an expert but share experiences and ideas with each other, they’re very popular for this reason.”
Ms Scotney says the sessions include topics that are varied to appeal to both new and experienced personal travel managers. Topics include:
- Finding and winning new business
- Building and growing your database
- Learning to get more from Amadeus
- Becoming mobile – IT tips and tricks to be truly mobile
- Motivation and goal setting
- What’s your X factor?
- Corporate travel management
- Small to medium enterprise business travel development
Off the back of TravelManagers’ personal travel managers continued success at selling cruise product it has established cruising as workshop topics in its own right. TravelManagers total cruise sales increased 24 percent for the nine months from January to September 2011 compared to the equivalent period in 2010.
Linda Halliday, General Manager – Cruise with House of Travel, (based in Auckland) will be conducting two workshops. Her experience in travel and specifically cruising is significant including at one point being general manager of the International Cruise Council Australasia.
Ms Halliday says one of these workshops is designed to cater for the needs of the personal travel manager that is relatively new to cruising while the other is for the extremely experienced.
“I’ll be highlighting the characteristics and profile of cruisers, the common perceptions or myths on cruise as a holiday option and the key influences on the client’s decision to cruise. The main focus for my second workshop is to provide an insight into consumer trends and preferences when it comes to cruising, identifying the consumer segments with the most potential for growth and how to stimulate these groups in our personal travel managers’ local community. We’ll also take a look at the impact social media and technology has on the cruise market and how to add value to your client base.”
Ms Scotney says in addition to the workshops there will also be presentations on brand commitment, pricing analysis, technology developments and individual personal travel manager success stories.
“Every year we put a great deal of time and energy into our annual conference, including significant input from our personal travel managers. In addition to being inspiring, motivating and educational, our own awards at the conclusion of the conference, allow us an opportunity to recognize excellence, reward these people and celebrate what can only be described as a hugely successful year also.”
The conference will take place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November at the Crown Promenade Hotel in Melbourne.
