  :: Groovy TravelManagers bula’d back to the 80s ::

The Love Boat crew met up with Fred Flinstone, a few Madonnas and a walking tequila sunrise late last week as Travel Managers time warped back into the 80s, Fijian style.

Sponsored by Fiji Tourism, big hair, retro pink tights and fishnet gloves were accompanied with leis and floral gowns as Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) grooved to 80s classics.

Closing the first day of the 2011 National Conference in Melbourne, Captain Stubing, Cruise director Julie and the rest of the Love Boat crew recaptured their hit status, receiving an overwhelming cheer as they can-caned to the show’s theme song.

While Madonna reclaimed her celebrity status on the dance floor alongside afros and hulla skirts.

Earlier in the day PTMs from around Australia discussed new ideas to develop their business as well as took part in supplier networking sessions.

Aiming to build their online space, TM marketing manager Chrissy Tayfield announced that the ‘personal’ mobile consultant company was in the process of renovating its consumer website and is planning to delve further into social networking.

TravelManagers parent company, House of Travel founder Chris Paulsen also told e-Travel Blackboard on the first day of the event that one of the few ways agents can survive online domination is by offering customers new experiences as well as building relationships.
