  ::Dreamliner touches down in Sydney::

The long awaiting Dreamliner will touch down in Sydney today as Qantas and Jetstar fly the aircraft over for the Australian flag carrier’s 91 birthday.

Arriving at 11.00am, the Australian flag carrier has invited guests to take a tour of the aircraft early tomorrow morning as well as take part in celebrations for the carrier’s birthday.

Sydney Airport chief executive Kerrie Mather said the aircraft is a “new era of quieter, greener” planes with its 20 percent less fuel per passenger and 60 percent quieter than the Boeing 767.

“Together with the A380, Sydney Airport is set to be one of the most popular ports for new generation aircraft, with Qantas placing a significant order for the B787,” Ms Mather said.

“Low cost carriers will drive much of the growth for airports over the next decade.

“With Jetstar to operate many of the Dreamliners on order, it will become the workhorse of the fleet and open potential for more direct flights from Sydney to destinations in Asia, North America and South America.”

e-Travel Blackboard will be on location at Sydney Airport tomorrow morning, so stay tuned to ETB News for exclusive photos of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Over the weekend Aucklanders saw the aircraft touched down for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere.
