Unmask Venice!

Greece Med Travel unveils the hidden treasures of the Venetian City.

There is nothing like the drama, mystery and excitement of Venice during Carnival festival time. With ornate masks sold all over Venice, and worn in the streets, this is an event like no other. In 2012, the Carnival of Venice will take place from 1 – 12 February.

Dating back to 1268, the Carnival of Venice is one of the oldest and most popular carnivals in the world. The history behind the tradition of the mask in Venice came from the desire of transgression or simply not being recognised. During the carnival acrobats, jugglers, tumblers can be seen around the city accompanied by live music, and foods such as dried fruits, chestnuts and pancakes from markets.

For those looking to experience the Venice, which has been called “the most beautiful city built by man”, Greece Med Travel can organise tours throughout Italy, including Venice, such as the Art Cities Tour from just $754 per person Twin Share*. This tour travels from Rome through to Florence, Bologna, Padua and Venice.
