Going the extra mile has proved to be successful for the Travelscene American Express clan, according to the agency’s general manager Jacqui Timmins. In a welcoming speech to the company’s 2011 Owners/Manager Conference attendees, Ms Timmins reflected on the year that was 2011 and stressed that customer service and being “the difference” has driven the company’s success throughout the year despite natural disasters and online “threats”. Launching the ‘You’ll Never Travel Alone’ slogan earlier this year, the company’s head said “proved highly successful in profiling” the Group’s commitment to its members. “That focus on going the extra mile, and being the difference, is what drives Travelscene American Express’ success and that of our Members and we’re looking to further entrench that point of difference,” Ms Timmins explained. “Travelscene American Express Members have taken full advantage of recent natural disasters and industrial action to demonstrate to our clients the very real value we deliver as travel agents.” She said the point of difference will also help the Group withstand ongoing and present online “threats”. “Threats are ever present from online, other travel groups and direct to consumer bookings however when we as a group decide to embrace new ways, new ideas and new opportunities, we have a strategic and powerful agenda for success,” she said. Hosting the annual event in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore this year, was another approach the company has taken to distinguishing itself from “competitors”, the head added. Running for two days the conference kicked off yesterday with up to 350 delegates in attendance to discuss Travelscene American Express’ focus for the coming year while also taking the opportunity to explore and refresh their knowledge of Singapore. This year the Travel Group’s annual gathering was sponsored by Singapore Tourism Board, Qantas Airways and Travelscene Holidays.
