Mistakes to avoid in business email signatures

Make sure you avoid these mistakes with your business email signature.

Mistake #1 - not having an email signature
At a minimum, your email signature should include

  • your name
  • company name and position
  • phone number - even your direct line and mobile
  • email address
  • website address

Mistake #2 - having an email signature at the top
Always put your email signature at the bottom after your message.

Mistake #3 - all pictures
Including your logo is a great way to brand yourself, but not all email accounts will read an image. It's recommended that your email signature is a combination of text and graphics.

Mistake #4 - Making it too fancy
Keep it relevant and keep it clean and simple. Use fonts and colours that are easy to read. Stick to your corporate colours.

Mistake #5 - social media
Include your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn icons and links at the bottom of your signature.
