Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has appointed Niel Mason to the position of general manager of the deluxe Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort & Spa, Noosa. Mr Mason has over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry working in senior roles at a range of full-service hotels and resort-style properties throughout Australia. He moves to Noosa after heading up Outrigger Twin Towns Resort at Coolangatta and Tweed Heads, while also chairing the region’s premier tourism body, Destination Tweed. Outrigger Hotels & Resorts’ Australia regional general manager, Grant James said: “Niel’s extensive experience managing resorts is a great asset to the company as it continues to expand the Outrigger brand throughout the Asia-Pacific. “His knowledge across all operational divisions and exceptional leadership qualities will underpin and support the skills of the dynamic team at Outrigger Little Hastings Street. “At Outrigger Twin Towns, Niel implemented many innovative guest and staff initiatives which led to him consistently exceeding guest expectations and delivering consistent returns to owners,” Mr James said. A highly motivated general manager, Mr Mason will consolidate the resort’s first year of trading by broadening ties with local tourism and business sectors and identifying new opportunities for the resort’s conferencing and food and beverage operations. Mr Mason has quickly established his presence in the destination and has already partnered with the organisers of three major events running in Noosa in 2012. He holds a range of qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Hotel & Food Administration from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. |
