UIA Director Network Development and Alliances, Denis Antonyuk said "By launching new flights to Tehran, we continue to develop our network towards the East. This route is very promising, especially given our solid business relationships between Iran and Ukraine, in the fields of mechanical engineering and aircraft building industries in particular. Steady passenger traffic is also generated by students from Iran who are studying in Ukrainian high schools. Kiev's perfect geographic location also allows us to improve our recently-adopted model of a network carrier. At Kiev Boryspil International Airport, UIA flights to/from Tehran will be conveniently connected both with our international flights and domestic routes, allowing our passengers to reach their destination quickly and with comfort."

Flights to/ from the capital of Iran will be performed in partnership with Antonov Airlines on both Boeing 737 and AN 148 aircraft.
