Intrepid Thailand trips back to normal post flooding

Friday, 2 December 2011

Intrepid Travel has praised its Bangkok team as trips resume to normal post the wide-spread flooding in Thailand.

Amid rising waters, Intrepid's on-the-ground operations team made changes to or cancelled more than 60 trips, impacting over 500 passengers. They did so under extremely difficult circumstances as the flooding caused Intrepid to relocate its office out of the centre of Bangkok and left many of its staff members homeless.

Trips are starting to return to normal operations with all departures operating as scheduled
from 1 December.

"Our team didn't let the weather dampen their spirits and commitment to our passengers. I can't praise them enough. A big thank you to our customers and travel agent partners who have been incredibly understanding in the face of mother nature. Our thoughts and wishes are with the Thai people as they rebuild their country," said Intrepid Travel's Managing Director, Geoff Manchester.

Intrepid Travel's staff worldwide contributed to a fundraising effort to support staff impacted by the floods. The effort was kick-started by donations from Intrepid's co-founders, Geoff Manchester and Darrell Wade.
Intrepid Travel has been running trips in Thailand for over 23 years.
