Trying to join the ‘mile high club’ has landed a 44 year old Gold Coast man and his 39 year old partner in serious trouble during a flight from Brisbane over the weekend.

The man was charged upon arrival of the Jetstar flight at Mackay Airport in north Queensland about 8:30am local time, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Police escorted the couple from the plane after flight crew requested assistance.  It is alleged the man became abusive towards the crew when they were sprung in the plane toilet.

The incident caused flights at Mackay Airport to be delayed for 30 minutes.

The man has been released on bail and due to face court later this month after being charged with disorderly conduct on an aircraft under the Civil Aviation Safety Act.
