Beachgoers brace themselves against the jetblast at the end of the runway
a jetBlue A320 arrives at SXM
a private jet arrives at SXM

Carrier: jetBlue

Flight Number: B6 788 departing 16:20

Duration: 3:57

Class: Economy Class

Configuration: A320, 3-3

Check-in experience:
An internet check-in without bags to check allowed for proceeding directly to Immigration and the departure gate.  Since the aircraft had arrived early into SXM, boarding was able to begin ahead of schedule as well.  Passengers seemed to be mostly seasoned travellers familiar with the routine and were extraordinarily efficient during the boarding process, which was pleasant and quick.

On-time performance:  Thanks to efficient boarding, the flight left 20 minutes early and fine weather contributed to an arrival 58 minutes ahead of schedule.

Seat/Cabin conditions:
jetBlue has a continual stream of new aircraft introduced into its fleet and I have yet to take a jetBlue plane showing any signs of age; the soft, leather seats always smell like the interior of a new car.  This Monday flight on an A320 was not full; the seat next to me was vacant, adding to the feeling of spaciousness already enhanced by the extra legroom in every row of jetBlue's planes in comparison to other airlines' Economy Class products.

Food And Beverage:
Free and unlimited snacks and soft drinks are offered, with alcoholic drinks and meals available for purchase.  Flight attendants are happy to keep the snacks and drinks coming.

Service:
Friendly, of course, as is jetBlue's standard, plus a feeling of professionalism above and beyond the standard.

Entertainment:
Because jetBlue's DirecTV satellite television broadcasts are only available within the continental US, the airline offered free films on this international flight.  Headsets may be purchased, but passengers can use their own if they have them already.

Arrival:
The flight arrived way ahead of schedule on an unseasonably warm evening in New York.  The airport was calm, with no line at Immigration or at the Baggage Claim exit.

Overview:
It may be surprising for some people to know that jetBlue is the biggest airline at the biggest airport in the biggest city in the United States.  As such, the airline offers a multitude of flights across the country and, unlike its low-cost competitors, to many international destinations as well.  jetBlue is increasing its presence in the Caribbean in particular with new flights being added regularly both from the continental US to the islands and between the islands themselves, such as the new route linking San Juan with St Maarten.  Princess Juliana Airport is famous among aviation enthusiasts for the up-close views of airplanes taking off and landing just metres above Maho Beach, where some of the bravest/craziest beachgoers take pleasure in standing directly in the jetblast emanating from jets at the end of the runway in preparation for departure.
