After a gruelling final semester and endless examinations, teens from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and other areas of Australia boarded planes, bound for the exotic islands of Fiji. The high school graduates were overwhelmed and excited to begin a week of party-filled evenings, relaxed afternoons and late sleep-ins. Welcome to ‘Schoolies Week 2011’, set in the tropical paradise of the Fijian Islands and surrounded by clear blue waters and gorgeous stretches of beach. Unleashed Travel, the organisation that provides these teens with specially-designed packages, enabling them to experience their schoolies week abroad, had staff on hand to greet the passengers as they passed through customs at Nadi Airport. The kids were then whisked away on coaches and transported to the marina, enjoying lunch and a few well-deserved drinks before boarding the boat that would take them to Beachcomber Island for their week of sun, sand and sea. Although an afternoon storm rolled in, the school leavers were unfazed and continued to enjoy themselves, despite the cloudy weather. “This is absolutely fantastic!” said Salvatore, 18 from Sydney. Upon reaching Beachcomber, the smallest of the Fijian resort islands, the kids received a welcome drink, a brief but succinct introduction and a buffet dinner. With the sun setting and the music on blast, the first night of the rest of their lives was underway. The drinks were flowing and a certain favourite amongst the schoolies traveller’s was the “Flying Fijian”. Not overloaded with alcohol but packing a punch of its own, it contained rum, tobasco sauce and chilli flakes. Some hot lips and plenty of water followed, keeping the teens in check. The atmosphere was electric and the kids had surely forgotten the demands and pressures of the final weeks of school. With sand under their feet and sea spray in their hair, the schoolies hopefuls hit the ground running on their first night and continued well into the morning of the next day. Certainly a night to remember! For more information regarding Unleashed travel packages, visit the following websites;
