Sydney Showground was the big winner at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s (EEAA) Annual Awards for Excellence last night, taking out one of the evening’s most sought after titles – Best Venue Team.   

Presented by Australia and New Zealand’s peak event and exhibition industry association, the award recognises the outstanding role the Sydney Showground team plays in facilitating more than 400 exhibitions, conferences, festivals, launches and events each year. 

Run by the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of NSW, Chief Executive Peter King said the Sydney Showground team is thrilled to be recognised for the hard work and dedication to the service of our clients.

“Sydney Showground is a unique venue and its reputation has been built by a world class team who have delivered some of Australia’s most iconic and unusual events. Our team demonstrates real passion for the events industry and are committed to delivering outstanding results for our clients,” said Mr King.

Over the past twelve years, the 130 staff members have staged in excess of 4800 events which have played host to a staggering 11 million plus patrons, enabling the team to develop the right skills and knowledge to provide clients with event management expertise that is second to none.

The EEAA award for Best Venue Team compliments another prestigious award won Sydney Showground just months ago - Best Venue at the 2011 Australian Event Awards.

“The Showground team are available to our clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing them with exceptional service from the initial stages of planning through to the final completion and debrief follow up of the project,” said Mr King.

In September this year Sydney Showground was proud to host Australia’s largest ever trade show.  Spread over 11 venues, equating to more than 50,000 square metres of exhibition space, AIMEX 2011 is one of the world’s top mining exhibitions.

Paul Baker, Exhibition Director for Reed Mining Events, said Sydney Showground is the obvious location for AIMEX due to its ability to meet the event’s demanding logistical schedule and exhibitor requirements.

“No other venue in Australia could cater for an event like AIMEX. The coordination of the show was a true collaboration between Reed Mining Events and the Sydney Showground team, from the logistically challenging move-in through to the creation of the many catering and entertainment precincts,” said Mr Baker.

It’s been a busy and successful year for Sydney Showground, hosting such events as two Big Day Out concerts,  the Amway China Incentive, Stereosonic, Equitana Sydney, the Sydney Telstra 500 V8 Supercar race and of course the largest event in the Southern Hemisphere – the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Over the past decade Sydney Showground has witnessed ongoing growth of the conference and exhibition business, turning Sydney Showground into one of Sydney’s premier event locations.
