DJ’s make noise during Schoolies in Fiji

Even at five in the morning, there are still a healthy number of kids; heart’s racing, feet stomping, busting moves all over the sandy dance floor of the Mana Island Resort and it’s all because of the music.

Among the countless daily activities and wondrous sights, it seems as though the nightly entertainment is the highlight for the hordes of schoolies travellers to the Fijian island resorts of Beachcomber, Mana and Plantation.

Unleashed Travel, the organisation behind Schoolies Week 2011 Fiji, has stationed some well-known Sydney-based DJ acts around the islands to provide the teens with a wide array of music and talent during the endless party nights.

The Dirty Cash DJ’s, Alex Strachan and Luke Tabone, set up each and every night from approximately seven o’clock, playing indie, house tunes, electronic mixes and some original material, entertaining the school leavers well into the early hours of the morning.

Rad Bad, a mash-up DJ, plays sets each and every night for the youngsters at Plantation Island Resort. Stylistic influences include Girl Talk, Diplo and The Avalanches.

Instead of a computerised, pre-ordained musical line-up, the schoolies traveller’s are treated to an impromptu range of shout-out’s and lengthy maniacal mixes, amplifying and electrifying their evenings.

Having these unique, live DJ’s makes a world of difference for the kids as they can request specific songs and beats. The music acts as a fantastic ice-breaker, uniting them in dance as a large social community.

“It’s great having the DJ’s play for us! They know what we want to hear and the mixes they spin are incredible” said Amy, 18 from Brisbane.

Being in Fiji for Schoolie's is one thing but having the opportunity to hear current, kick-ass tunes amidst wild parties and great friends is the epitome of pleasure.
