New Rail Pass for Japanese Island of Kyushu

Access Rail unveiled a new rail pass for travel on the island of Kyushu – the third of Japan’s four main islands and home to the popular hot springs of Beppu, the historic city of Nagasaki and the volcanoes of Mount Aso and Sakurajima.

The pass may be issued for travel within northern Kyushu or, alternatively, for travel throughout the entire island.

Passes - available for three- and five-day durations – cover unlimited travel on the:

  • Kyushu Shinkansen (bullet train) Tsubame,
  • The Sonic limited express
  • any Kyushu Railway Co trains.

Adult prices range from approximately $AUD98* for a 3-Consecutive-Days Pass for northern Kyushu, to approximately $AUD238* for a 5-Consecutive-Days Pass for travel throughout Kyushu island.

Children under six years of age travel for free, and children six to eleven years travel for half the adult price.
